# Beginner's Guide to Tree-Shaking in JavaScript😇

Are you tired of slow-loading web pages 😭 and bloated JavaScript bundles? One way to optimize your JavaScript code and improve the performance of your web application is by using **tree-shaking**.

### **What is Tree-Shaking?** 🤔

Tree-shaking, also known as dead code elimination, is a technique used to remove unused code from your JavaScript bundle. When you write code, you may import libraries or modules that are not needed. These unused modules add unnecessary **weight** to your code, which can slow down the loading time of your web page.

Tree-shaking analyzes your code and identifies which modules and functions are not used. It then removes these modules and functions from your JavaScript bundle, resulting in a smaller and more optimized bundle.

**Now the question is how can I use tree shaking in my project as well.**

### How to use tree-shaking? 🤔

To use tree-shaking, you need to use a module bundler that supports this feature, such as Webpack, Parcel, or Rollup. These bundlers can analyze your code and identify unused modules and functions.

**Steps to setup tree-shaking in your javascript project**

* Use a module bundler that supports tree-shaking, such as Webpack or Rollup.

* Make sure your code is written in modules.

* Use ES6 syntax, such as import and export, to define your modules.

* Configure your bundler to enable tree-shaking.

* Test your code to make sure it still works as expected after tree-shaking.

For example, in Webpack, you can set the mode option in your webpack.config.js file:

```javascript
module.exports = {
  mode: 'production',
  // other options...
};
```
